Escape to Giddywell Grange by Kim Nash - Blog Tour Review

Maddy Young thought she had it all.

Swanky city apartment? - yep. Fancy car? Sorted. High-flying career? - tick.

Even if she's lost most of her friends because of spending all her time at work, and can't remember when she last had fun, it's worth it.

Until she's suddenly made redundant. Now she's 37, jobless, and after the breakup with the former love of her life, unhappily single.

Enter Maddy's childhood friend, Beth, the owner of Growlers, the doggy daycare centre at Giddywell Grange, on a mission to make Maddy see there's more to life than work.

Soon, Maddy is swapping spreadsheets for volunteer duty at the library, daily Starbucks for cups of tea with elderly neighbours, and her Prada handbag for doggy poo bags ... And with Beth's gorgeous brother, Alex, back from the States, Maddy starts to think that Giddywell Grange might just be her happy place.

But when her old life - and her old boyfriend - comes calling, will Maddy go back to the job she loved so much? Or will she discover that the key to happiness lies in making others happy?

An uplifting romantic comedy that will warm your heart - perfect for fans of Cathy Bramley, Milly Johnson and Katie Fforde.

My Review

Wow just Wow! After reading and loving Kim Nash's debut novel, Amazing Grace, I was so excited and eager to read her second novel. I was not disappointed, if it is at all possible I enjoyed Escape to Giddywell Grange even more than Amazing Grace. Kim has an outstanding talent and this is an absolute delight of a novel.

Kim Nash has an excellent style of writing, her characters and the part they each play in the story are outstanding. Even the smallest of characters bring something special to the book.

After Maddy is made redundant from her high-flying job, she returns to her home town. She reunites with people from her past, who lead very different lives to the one she has become accustomed to. She offers to help her best friend Beth at her doggy daycare centre, while Beth recovers from surgery. I absolutely loved the relationship between Maddy and Beth. Even though they haven't seen each other for a long time, their friendship picks up right where it left off. They are incredibly close and know each other so well. When the time comes for Maddy to choose whether to return to her old life or remain in the new life she is building for herself, it is a difficult choice. Should she return to her seemingly successful life or remain with her old friends and family and the content life she has built for herself?

Escape to Giddywell Grange is a truly uplifting story about people, opportunities and even dogs coming into your life when you need them the most. There are also a few laugh out loud moments along the way. I love when an authors personality comes out through there work, and after speaking to Kim online and meeting her in Harrogate, I can truly say her personality shines through the pages of her novel.

I absolutely flew through Escape to Giddywell Grange and couldn't stop reading. I finished it in just a few hours. Kim Nash pulled me into Maddy's world and I did not want to leave. I was also so happy to see a little cameo from someone from Amazing Grace, it was such a nice touch. This is an absolute must read and I can't wait to see what Kim has to offer in her next book.
