The Chain by Adrian McKinty - Blog Tour Review

You just dropped off your child at the bus stop. A panicked stranger calls your phone. Your child has been kidnapped, and the stranger explains that their child has also been kidnapped, by a completely different stranger. The only way to get your child back is to kidnap another child within 24 hours. Your child will be released only when the next victim's parents kidnap yet another child, and most importantly, the stranger explains, if you don't kidnap a child, or if the next parents don't kidnap a child, your child will be murdered. You are now part of The Chain.

My Review

I had seen this book all over my Twitter, so when I got the opportunity to join the blog tour I jumped at the chance. From the description I just knew it was my type of read, and how right I was! From the first chapter, I knew I was going to love it I was totally engrossed.

Rachel's plight had me fascinated and turning the pages quickly. How far will she go to protect her daughter and get her back home? The answer is anything! Whilst reading I kept wondering, what would I do in her situation? Rachel does things that no rational and straight thinking person would. But the situation she is in is totally unique so she has to change her way of thinking and seeing the world.

I did enjoy the first half of the book slightly more than the second, that isn't to say the second half wasn't brilliant just that the first half was sooo good and had me gripped. The Chain is super intense and an absolute page turner. The whole book is fast paced and action packed, which I loved.

Adrian McKinty has written a superb and unique story. With a plot that will make you think about the lengths people could go to for their lives ones. If you like your thrillers tense, gritty and a little different this is definitely the book for you. I am really looking forward to reading more from Adrian McKinty. He certainly can write a whopper of a story.
