Knowing You By Samantha Tonge - Publication Day Blog Blitz

An abrupt change; a new friendship; a dark secret...

Kind-hearted Violet has never fitted in, but despite being bullied at school is now content. She is dating ambitious Lenny, has her dream job in publishing and runs a book club at the local retirement home.

However, when her relationship with Lenny begins to falter, Violet, hurt and alone, seeks the advice of her new flatmate, Bella. She changes her image and with her head held high aims to show that she doesn’t need Lenny in her life to be happy and successful.

Her long-term friends Mable and Farah worry about Bella’s influence and slowly Violet starts to distance herself from them. When she was a child, her closest confidant and companion was a boy called Flint. Her mother didn’t approve of their closeness and he suffered a terrible end. She won’t let the same thing happen to Bella, no matter what anyone says...

Knowing You is about friendship and knowing who to trust with your deepest secrets; it’s about taking control of your life and not being afraid to stand out. Perfect for fans of Ruth Hogan, Gail Honeyman and Amanda Prowse

My Review

I absolutely loved Samantha Tonge's previous book, Forgive Me Not, so I couldnt wait to read Knowing You. I couldn't put it down and read it in just a few hours. Samantha's writing is wonderful and emotive.
I loved that the story was set around the book publishing industry. I found the details given about Violet's job to be so interesting.
After splitting up with her boyfriend, Violet is lonely. She only has her cat for company at home. So she gets a flatmate, Bella. They get on well and Bella settles easily into Violet's life.
Violet's co-worker try their best to support her but she doesn't seem to want their help. Instead she heavily relies on Bella, who helps her have a complete makeover and re invent herself. But Violet's life starts to spiral out of control.
I really enjoyed the flashbacks to Violet's childhood, finding out about her childhood friend, who her Mother didn't approve of. Learning where her love of books came from and how she ended up where she is was a great side to the story.
I love the fact that it was a slightly darker read than Forgive Me Not. The message within the book is important and Samantha has handled it really well.
I can't wait to read more from Samantha Tonge, Knowing You will definitely be in my top ten reads of this year.
