Book Review - Liars/Frances Vick

I was sent this book to review by Bookouture via NetGalley. From the description this definitely sounded like my type of book and I couldn't wait to start reading.
He loves you. He’d do anything for you. But you don’t even know him.

Jenny hasn’t had an easy life – no job and no money, with a sick mother and an abusive ex-stepfather. Not that anybody cares, she’s from the wrong side of town.

David has taken care of Jenny ever since they were at school together. He knows how special she is, how much she needs his support. David has a lot of love to give.

Jenny and David aren’t in a relationship. They aren’t even friends.

Jenny thinks she’s free to do what she wants, see who she likes. What does David think? Well, you’ll have to find out.

As readers of my page will know I love a good mystery/thriller novel, so this one appealed to me straight away. It took me a little time to get into this book, but once I did I honestly found it difficult to put down (read it all in a few hours!).

Jenny had a very difficult upbringing, and is seeing a therapist (prompted by her best friend). She has some supportive friends around her as well. An aspect of this book I enjoyed was Jenny's a bit of a blogger, so every so often throughout the book there was one of her posts. These gave a little insight into her thoughts and emotions. For me this added another dimension to the story. The character of David is very complex, he's got problems that have been with him since childhood. As you read the book, a lot of their individual histories are revealed.

This book to me was a real rollercoaster, just as I thought I knew what was happening and what was coming there was another twist. I don't want to give anything away but at different stages of the book I changed who I liked/disliked.

My favourite character in the book was actually Jenny's best friend, Freddie. He is funny, caring and would do anything for Jenny, definitely a friend every girl needs.

All in all I really enjoyed this book, and will definitely be reading more from Frances Vick. A must read for any psychological thriller fans.

Liars publish date is 26 January 2018.

Have you read any good books that you would recommend, let me know in the comments.
