From sex crazed fiends to cold eyed professional assassins, only those convicted of the most terrible murders are told they will die behind bars. This book tells the stories of those most depraved killers whose crimes outraged society and demanded the harshest penalty available to a British court. A graphic and harrowing read, this book is the first ever to bring together the case histories of every full-term lifer in Britain's jails. It offers never-before-published information about these extraordinary offenders. Police, lawyers and the relatives of the victims and killers all describe how the truth behind these awful crimes was pieced together and those responsible were brought to justice to face the harshest punishment.
This book was an interesting read. Some of the cases featured are high-profile ones that most people will be aware of. What I liked was there were some cases that I hadn't heard about. I find sometimes with these types of books that they tend to cover high-profile cases more than lesser known ones. I found this book had a balance between both.
Some cases are quite disturbing, and can be found distressing to some. One or two even I, an avid real crime reader/blogger, found difficult to read. The descriptions of the crimes/criminals I found weren't too long, but they did give me the facts of the cases and relevant information. One of the cases covered in this book is one that I have actually covered here on my blog, the case of Jeremy Bamber.
I would definitely recommend this book, it's a really fascinating read for anyone with an interest in real crime.
